The challenge before us is this: to treasure and preserve the independence given to us and learn to integrate it in an all-embracing interdependence.

Violence wears the disguise of necessity, but when we look deeper, we see its barren soil yielding only bitterness. Rev. Dr. King, drawing from Jesus and Gandhi, revealed that violence is not only immoral but futile, unable to birth peace because it cannot break the cycle it perpetuates. We must live in and through Another to be truly nonviolent. This truth unsettles the calculative mind that seeks control, for it demands surrender to a love not our own—agape, the love that suffers without retaliation, serves without repayment, reconciles without domination. Yet history tells another story: those who claimed Christ often chose empire over compassion, power over peace, domination over dignity. Still, the invitation stands: a radical return, a humble bow, an opening of the heart to Divine love as the only force strong enough to make us truly free.
May the path of love disarm every weapon within us.
