The question is not what you look at, but what you see.

Henry David Thoreau

Select One Spiritual Nugget to Inspire Your Day

Life invites us into the optometrist’s chair of the soul, where lenses are placed before us and we are asked, again and again, “Is this clearer?” Some lenses distort. Authoritarianism narrows our sight, scapegoating fragments our belonging, supremacy blinds us to the sacred dignity of all. Yet other lenses, born of humility, patience, and tenderness, restore vision. They train the eye of the heart to notice the unguarded beauty of ordinary things: the scent of lilacs, the clasp of small hands crossing a street, the simple joy of blueberries. In these seemingly fragile details, vast love waits to be seen. When you decide I’m going to be here, I’m going to be present, and I’m going to be present with love, you take it all. Such vision heals and transforms.

May your seeing be softened by love.
