The scriptures reveal a striking paradox: those who seem weakest carry within them the indispensable gift of God’s life. Power is so often misunderstood, twisted into domination, preserved through rigid tradition, and used to elevate self over others. Yet the deeper truth is unveiled in the way of Christ—where the powerless, the overlooked, and the vulnerable are entrusted with divine authority. Powerlessness seems to be God’s starting place, as in Twelve-Step programs. This power is not grasped but received, not wielded but shared, not forced but surrendered into love’s current. When we learn to trust the strength of humility, the courage of compassion, and the resilience of tenderness, we glimpse a radical form of power that heals, restores, and transforms the world.
