The early communities described in Acts challenge everything we’ve been taught to accept. They embody a shift—from individualism to shared life, from hierarchy to equality. We read that they were of one heart and mind. That kind of unity isn't sentimentality; it’s the result of transformation. As they awakened to the reality of oneness, everything changed—how they saw one another, how they understood belonging, how they used resources. They stopped hoarding and started sharing. Not because of ideology, but because they couldn't bear the thought of anyone among them going without. They could not move forward with anyone in their community having need. That kind of life confronts our world today. If transformation is real, it must change how we live with each other, especially in a world that benefits from keeping us divided.

May we refuse to move forward while any among us remain in need, and live as one people bound by shared love and mutual care.
