Gratitude is the practice that opens up hope.

Select One Spiritual Nugget to Inspire Your Day

Shadow work is uncomfortable, but we can’t avoid it if we want to be honest about who we are. The traits we push away—those disapproved of by family, teachers, or peers—don’t disappear. They wait. The more we invest in a polished self-image, the more we bury what doesn’t fit. This isn’t about good or bad; it’s about what we’ve been told is acceptable. When we cling to roles like “leader” or “helper,” we risk mistaking the role for the whole. That mistake creates blind spots and leads to hypocrisy. The more we are attached to our protected self-image, the more shadow self we will likely have. The work is to face the parts we’ve disowned. Without that, we remain fragmented and reactive. With it, we move toward integration. Spiritual maturity demands this honest reckoning.

May we release our grip on self-image and have the courage to face what we’ve hidden, so we can live in truth and wholeness.
